CJS is working with the sustainable transport charity Sustrans to help reduce traffic congestion and pollution around the
school gate by encouraging as many pupils as possible to walk, scoot or cycle to school instead of coming in a car.
As part of this project, we will be “Legging it to Lapland” – clocking up virtual miles on our 2116 mile journey to Lapland.
The challenge runs from Monday 28 November to Friday 9 December. The winning school in the area will be the one
with the highest average proportion of active journeys (made on foot or non-motorised wheels) per pupil.
There are some great prizes. For the winning school there will be a scooter stunt display and scooter sessions for some
of the children. One child at every participating school will win a scooter and there will be lots of other prizes available
for children taking part in the challenge.
Please help us to win by making a special effort to walk your children to school or allow them to cycle or scoot. If you
have to drive but still want to take part, park at least 5 minutes away from the school and walk, cycle or scoot the rest of
the way.
Your child has been issued with an active travel tracking card (their ‘Lapland passport’), please encourage them to keep
this at school and fill it in each day. This will be their ticket for the prize draw at the end of the challenge.
Thank you for your support!
