If you are unable to complete the survey online, please con-tact the school office for a paper copy. Bags of Thanks!

10th January 2017

A big thank you to everyone who voted for our community project as part of Tesco’s Bags of Help scheme. We have been awarded the sum of £8000 towards our project!

Our plan is to use the funds to transform some of the muddy areas at the back of school near the bike sheds. These areas, previously laid to lawn, are now in need of a face lift so that the children can enjoy them to the full.

Many thanks again for your continued support and we look forward to sharing the finished results with you.

Our project has been shortlisted for a public vote in Tesco’s Bags of Help initiative

4th October 2016

What is Bags of Help?

Tesco has teamed up with Groundwork on its Bags of Help initiative in hundreds of regions across England and Wales.  The scheme will see three community groups and projects in each of these regions awarded grants of £12,000, £10,000 and £8,000 – all raised from the 5p bag charge. www.tesco.com/bagsofhelp

Christchurch Junior School has been selected for the shortlist in our region! This means we will be granted at least £8,000. However, we can achieve more if we receive enough votes from shoppers in local Tesco stores.

What is our project?

Our plan is to transform some of the muddy areas at the back of school. These areas, previously laid to lawn, are now in need of a face lift so that the children can enjoy them to the full.

We will transform these areas into a place for children to gather, play and relax; the ground would be covered with artificial grass with hexagonal benches (locally sourced and made from recycled plastic) set around the two trees. Large planters stocked with sensory plants would define the edges of the area. It would be an eco-friendly, low maintenance environment.

We are confident that this new area would not only result in calmer playtimes but would also lend itself well to be used for outside learning (e.g. story or circle times).

How can you help?

Please vote for us to win the top prize of £12,000 between 31 October 2016 and 13 November 2016.

Voting for our project will be at the following Tesco stores:

    • Christchurch Tesco Express, 271 Barrack Road, Christchurch, BH23 2AY
    • Southbourne Grove Tesco Express, 28-30 Southbourne Grove, Bournemouth, BH6 3RA
    • Tuckton Road Tesco Express, 216 Tuckton Road, Southbourne, Bournemouth, BH6 3AA
    • Pokesdown Tesco Express, 980-982 Christchurch Road, Boscombe, Bournemouth, BH7 6DW
